The First Long Term 25-Year Development Period, beginning April 1, 1969 and ending March 31, 1994 has produced remarkable achievements in many sectors. To commemorate this success, the Bank Indonesia is issuing a limited number of Rp 50,000 plastic banknotes with the theme "25 YEARS OF INDONESIAN DEVELOPMENT". This note is the first plastic banknote issued in Indonesia and shall be legal tender.
On the front side of the banknote appears the portrait of President Soeharto as the Father of Indonesian Development with the representation of various sectoral developments in the background.
On the reverse side is a picture of the Soekarno-Hatta International Airpport and a Garuda Indonesia airplane taking off, illustrating that Indonesian development is entering the process of take-off.
